I think they should have explained it more, rather than cast him out for being crippled. That was a real douche move by the elder(s). He literally gave his lively hood for the sect, and they cast him out like wounded horse. At least(most) horses these days get treated and retired, not given a crutch and tossed out to the wild.
Though not the most advanced, I think this is one of the best CGA's(computer generated animation) I've seen for a very long time. They do well so make the expressions subtle and terrain "authentic" without being too realistic. It's very well done. Well, the background anyway. They cleared the ground in the combat scene, I suppose to use less moving parts to make the action stand out more.

Well, she did do it in front of hella students, who were trying to humiliate him and one was trying to physically harm him. So, forgive him for not seeing her "sadness & grief" in the moment, especially when she added to his sadness & grief by not only cutting him off, but in PUBLIC giving the others more to laugh about on top of his situation. That was incredibly rude and insensitive, could've at least pulled him to the side to tell him, and maybe, tell him why and what the elder said, but I guess that's too intelligent for such a individual from a wicked heartless sect like this one smh (authors like to cause more unnecessary drama lol).

But I'll stick around (unlike the Mc lmao) to see if it has potential or not.

well if he wasnt the MC with plot armor.. in situations like these the best thing to do is to crush all hope.. it hurts but less in the long run. at least now he wont linger and focus on getting back on his feet to prove them wrong...

I thought from her expression and inner monologue that it was clear that she said those things to let the world know that they have no connection to each other such that he (a powerless mortal) would not be captured and tortured and used against her and most likely killed. She doesn't seem to be the heartless bitch we have seen in so many other cultivation stories. Its more like she did that to protect him.

dont really know what you expect from a historic era cultivation donghua and 1 twenty min ep..... perhaps if you lowered your expectations you might find some happiness and entertainment.... gotta see the good in things.... mc didnt fall off a cliff and didnt die and get reborn ......seemed to have already been a genius or better then his peers and he isnt a teenager.... so already unlike 99% of the rest.....

yup the cliff dive is the donghua version of death by truck almost every one has the cliff dive scene..... however that seems to be changing as well as the niches.... starting to see more sci fi and non cultivation donghuas coming out.... but dont expect cultivator show to stop being the majority as it seems like those are the Marvel/DC superheroes of china
